The Last Month of School--NOW WHAT?

Depending on where you live, you may have from 15 to 25 days of school left. With everything turning green and kids getting a little "buggy", it's time for a serious action plan. I find that GAMES and ACTIVITIES are really great for this time of year. Direct teaching isn't going to cut it at all. So what do I do?  I love Game Songs and I'm actually working on a product with some of my favorite, but I thought I'd share a variety of things that you can use to get you through the last month of school.
MAY FLOWER GAME SONG  with fun Hand Actions, Rhythmic teaching pages, Lesson plan, Xylophone teaching pages, Mp3 Tracks. It's a great song to finish up the year in your K-3 classroom. Or, you can use the song in a concert and have your students play the MELODY, BASS and OSTINATO parts.

Cute and engaging due to the INSECTS:

Or, get them in small groups and have them work on some composing activities. Or fill in the blanks for assessments.

Then I always have some kind of movement activity--and this one is really working well. I don't use it every week, but save it for especially "wiggly" days.

This activity brings out the giggles as the kids try to do the poses on the Steady Beat.

Overall, you can fill your last month with memorable, engaging and productive activities that will keep a smile on your face as well as theirs.

I also think students need rewards because it sends such a positive message to the rest of the students and validates their great skills or behavior.  I put my awards into a bundle here to share with you.  Always half off first 24 hours...until Monday...Awards for your Music Classroom.  MUSIC AWARDS
MUSIC AWARDS *EDITABLE *PRINTABLE *Easy to Use
This Music Awards Bundle is so easy to use and FLEXIBLE! Half off first 24 hours....You get 7 different styles of MUSIC AWARDS.
You get the product in a PDF and POWER POINT-just open, insert a text box, and you can add in the NAME OF YOUR OWN AWARDS and the STUDENTS NAME. You can even add in other graphics or names as needed. So Flexible!
I included 14 different AWARDS Ideas that you can use.
What's great about this is that you can use it year after year after year and don't have to keep purchasing or remembering to get files from somewhere--you'll have this forever.
Grab some free Music Graphics or Kid Graphics and you will have a fun time creating your own Awards--
or just PRINT them and use as they are--write in the award and hand them out as students leave your classroom. I like flexible products because then I can tailor make it to fit the situation....you might have "BEST HAND DRUMMER" the week you introduce your hand drums to your Kindergartners....

Handing out awards also helps you stay positive!  Best to you in these last days of 2014-2015.
